When buying or selling share online it is important to consider the below;

1. Do your homework about online investing. The internet has a wealth of knowledge, take advantage of it. In particular, review the information available from ASIC. Sign up to user groups and newsletters to receive up to date trading information.

2. Compare brokers as commissions can be variable. And ensure that you select a broker that is licensed.

3. Understand the process to buy and sell stocks. Don't be caught out by misunderstanding the process.

4. Decide if you will;
   a - Send an electronic order directly to a representative of the broker, who will then place your order on the market.
   b - Access the markets directly known as straight through processing.

5. Use limit trading where appropriate.

6. Understand the online buy / sell confirmation procedures.

There are many different methods and strategies to trading on the stock exchange. Make sure you do your homework before you decide on which type of stock trading strategy is best for you.

Remember that you cannot be a winner in every trade. You are successful if your average returns are positive and the risk of your trading method is minimal.
